My Story
My journey to yoga began in 2013, during my primary school teacher training with Teach First. My first year was incredibly challenging, and it was at this time that I joined a local hot yoga studio. At the time I was stressed beyond belief, and I knew a lot needed to change. So I went to a Waterstones, and asked if the sales assistant could recommend any books to help with stress. He suggested a book on Mindfulness by Thich Nhat Hanh, 'Peace is Every Breath'. This book, as well as yoga, completely changed my life and the way that I am able to deal with challenging situations. I also couldn't believe the impact yoga had on my life, and the way it helped me to develop both physical strength and emotional resilience. At this point, I began introducing yoga to the children who I taught, as brain breaks, and found it to have a hugely positive impact on their wellbeing. I founded a company 'Zenchild' in 2017, and have since taught children in different settings, including group classes and 1:1s, as well as teaching for the Young Carers Project charity.
As my love for yoga grew, I knew that I wanted to teach yoga to everyone, not just children! I tried all different types of yoga, from Kundalini, Jivamukti, and Ashtanga, to Yin and Restorative. I preferred the flowy classes with dynamic playlists that made me feel like I was at a festival. But I equally enjoyed the stiller classes where I could just be with myself and my thoughts. I joined an array of studios across London, and went to a wide range of different teachers. This, combined with my deep interest in mindfulness and yogic philosophy, led me to train as a Yoga Teacher in 2019 with Yogahaven. Since then, I've taught regularly at Yogahaven Richmond, as well as for corporate and private clients.
I'm excited to bring my love for yoga to you too, and I hope that it brings you as much light as it's brought me.
